This animation was created by TRI Transmission and Bearing Corp. and shows the basic elements of an Align-A-Pad bearing. This bearing is a simple tilt pad journal bearing used in a fluid drive. It is a six pad bearing designed to be pinched in a pedestal. Other bearing designs by TRI Transmission and Bearing Corp. include features like hold down ears and saddle blocks used for alignment adjustments. This bearing has holes for vibration probes and thermocouples, though the additions were not added to the animation. TRI Engineers can analyze vibration problems, design a bearing to address the problem and then manufacture a high quality, American made product. This animation was created by TRI Transmission and Bearing Corp. and shows the basic elements of an 6-pad Align-A-Pad bearing with saddle blocks. The saddle blocks facilitate easy alignment during installation. By changing shims, the bearing can be moved while the saddle block/pedestal surfaces remain in contact. No hand work is required to make alignment moves. This bearing also features hold down ears. The keep the bearing tight in the pedestal under all thermal conditions. See the "Clamping A Turbine Bearing" animation for an explanation of thermal conditions that can lead to loose bearings: https://youtu.be/nIuBBL_KaF0 TRI Engineers can analyze vibration problems, design a bearing to address the problem and then manufacture a high quality, American made product. How to use digital calipers to perform basic measurements on a radial ball bearing. Learning this skill will enable you to quickly identify a bearing. A tape measure or ruler usually isn't sufficient for this task.
To be a Ceremonial Guardsman in the United States Air Force you have to maintain bearing at all times, even if you have a rubber chicken in front of your face. The instructors at the USAF Honor Guard Tech School constantly challenge the newcoming Airmen's bearing, and the students pay the penalty if they cannot maintain it.

Students at Ulster BOCES Hudson Valley Pathways Academy took on their second industry challenge. Each month, teams of students spend several days working on simulated cases for different business challenges hosted by different manufacturers. Representatives from Schatz Bearing Corporation, a ball bearing manufacturer in Poughkeepsie, presented students with a display board problem. Students then brainstormed and presented new display board plans to executives at Schatz.
